Bergen Middle had the honor and pleasure to host former Superior Court of New Jersey Judge Arthur D’Italia for a VIP visit on December 11, 2014. Mr. D’Italia came in for a breakfast and chat with administration before speaking with the students during a 3rd period assembly. Mr. D’Italia shared his experiences on becoming a judge with the students and then educated them on the daily functions of sitting on the bench, the differences between being a judge and being a lawyer, and the social changes a judge needs to undertake once they are appointed. Then, the former judge took questions from the students on a variety of topics. Mr. D’Italia concluded his day at Bergen Middle with a presentation by our Robotics team as they prepare for their competition this Saturday in Mount Olive. A great day was had by all, and our school thanks Judge D’Italia for the privilege of hearing him speak with the students in our building!
