Late Work Policy

Late Work Policies

The focus is for every student to be successful in his/her learning and have grades/percentages that reflect his/her understanding. Therefore, every attempt will be made on the behalf of the Paterson Arts and Science Charter School staff to have each student submit his/her work. Below, please see the late work policy.

Kindergarten to First Grade:

Teachers will be in correspondence with parents. Homework may be assigned daily or sometimes weekly. Teachers will be in collaboration with parents regarding late homework/projects and assignments. Multiple missed assignments may affect the level of achievement per marking period.

Second to Third Grade:

Teachers will be in correspondence with parents. Homework may be assigned daily or sometimes weekly. 5 points will be deducted daily for every late assignment. After the eleventh day from the given date, homework will not be accepted and graded as zero percent

Fourth to Eighth Grade:

1 – 5 days Database will be updated with an “M” to reflect the missing assignment
6 – 10 days Teacher will contact parent/guardian
11th day Will result in a zero

NOTE: Each day, 5 points will be deducted from the assignment’s grade:

10th day = 50%
11th day = 0%

Ninth through Twelfth Grade:

Late work will receive a 10-point deduction per day tardy for up to 4 school days. Late work may not be submitted for credit thereafter.

1 – 4 days: 10-point deduction per day late. The Database & Schoology will be updated with an “M” to reflect the missing assignment.
5+ days: Late work may not be submitted for credit. A “0” will appear for that assignment in the Database & Schoology.
