On December 12th, Mr. Innocenzi led an intrepid band of BASCS students and faculty members to the Brooks Atkinson Theater in New York City to see the hit Broadway show, Spring Awakening. Deaf West Theater’s production of Spring Awakening floored the critics when it premiered in California and now it is stunning New York audiences. Deaf West’s innovative new production takes this already revolutionary musical to electrifying new heights by choreographing sign language into the production, intensifying the rift between the lost and longing teenagers and the adults who refuse to hear them. Directed by Michael Arden and starring Golden Globe and Academy Award® winner Marlee Matlin (Children of a Lesser God), Deaf West’s Spring Awakening was full of knockout performances, explosive music and soul-stirring emotion.
