VIP Visit From Mr. Danny Fenjves, Founder, The Upperline School of Code

Mr. Danny Fenjves used first-class corporate technology to meet with PASCS Middle High School students to share his IT and tech industry expertise.  An expert in both front-end and back-end programming languages including Ruby, Rails, Sinatra, HTML, CSS, and Javascript, he is the Founder of The Upperline School of Code, which provides summer programs for high school students to learn to create amazing things with code.

The Upperline School of Code teaches high school students how to turn their ideas into reality using the power of code. In our workshop, Mr. Fenjves informed our students about the skills needed to thrive in a digital economy and work in a collaborative, dynamic environment. While our students were working in HTML and Ruby to build web applications from the ground up, they were also becoming a community of learners who were confident that they could tackle “hard” problems.

As a seasoned industry professional, Mr. Fenjves led our Panthers in an exploration of IT, hardware/software engineering, and coding as careers.  You can see by the hands raised in the workshop photos that the material taught mattered in a tangible way to the students. In the United States there will be a projected 1 million unfilled computer science related jobs by the year 2020. We know that while our students are having a lot of fun in school they are also being given the tools and the mindset to be leaders in a world where code is the engine of growth and economic success.
