Connect with The Bronx ASCS and never miss any update!

You can choose the best public education for your child!

There are NO entrance exams, interviews, costs, or special requirements.

iLearn Schools DOES NOT discriminate on the basis of race, religion, gender, or national origin. Students who are English language learners or who require special education services are encouraged to apply.

Things to know before applying:

You must be a resident of New York State to apply to The Bronx ASCS.

Non-Discrimination Statement: A charter school shall not discriminate against or limit the admission of any student on any unlawful basis, including on the basis of ethnicity, national origin, gender, disability, intellectual ability, measures of achievement or aptitude, athletic ability, race, creed, gender, national origin, religion or ancestry. A school may not require any action by a student or family (such as an admissions test, interview, essay, attendance at an information session, etc.) in order for an applicant to either receive or submit an application for admission to that school.

Only one application per student will be accepted.

Any duplicate application will be removed prior to the lottery.

If you are applying for more than one student (siblings)...

Please complete a separate application for each child. You must receive a confirmation email for each student's application to ensure each student will be entered into the lottery.

Checking your application status:

You may log in anytime to view and check the status of your application.

Lottery Preferences for The Bronx ASCS:

New York State law requires that children must have turned 5-years-old by December 1st of the year they are admitted to kindergarten.

You must submit an application by April 1st, 2019 for your child to be included in the Bronx ASCS lottery.

A public charter school lottery determines the order in which students are granted admission into The Bronx ASCS. Once all available spaces are filled, names are drawn to determine the order of the waitlist. Students will be admitted from the waitlist as spaces become available.

New York State law requires that we offer the following preferences (in this order):
1 - Returning students
2 - Students of siblings currently enrolled
3 - Staff preference
4 - Students residing in CSD 10
5 - Students residing outside of CSD 10

The Bronx ASCS will use a weighted lottery for English language learners (ELLs). This gives additional weight to ELL students but does not reserve or set aside seats for students in the preference category (does not guarantee a seat). Students who meet the criteria in any of the definitions in (1), (2), or (3) will be given TWO tickets for the lottery. See below for more information.

More information regarding lottery process:

Every year following the application timeline, iLearn Schools is accepting online and paper-based registrations for enrollment in the admissions lottery. In the event that more students apply than space allows, eligible students will be enrolled by a lottery system. All students’ names will be randomly selected and recorded in sequence. The first names drawn will fill available slots; all other names will be retained in the sequence of the drawing, and placed on a waiting list. Lottery date, time, and location for each school will be announced on the school's social media/website in April.

Admissions is by blind lottery – that means no test scores, grades, recommendations or behavioral histories will be taken into consideration during the application process.

LOTTERY DATE AND TIME: Saturday, April 6th @ 10 AM
LOTTERY LOCATIONS: TBD

Purpose of the NYSED Weighted Lottery Generator

iLearn Schools is in the process of implementing a weighted lottery system to help better diversify our student population. According to the recently adopted federal and state guidelines, charter schools may hold weighted lotteries that favor disadvantaged students. Disadvantaged students are defined as low-income students (FRPL), students with disabilities, English Language Learners (ELLs), and students who are migrant, homeless, or delinquent.

Consistent with Section 5204(a)(1) of ESEA, the NYSED Weighted Lottery Generator is designed to give slightly better chances for admission to a subset of educationally disadvantaged students. The NYSED Weighted Lottery Generator does not reserve or set aside seats for individual students or sets of students, and may not be used for the purpose of creating schools to exclusively serve a particular subset of students.

Weighted Lottery for English Language Learners (ELLs)
