New Jersey Cancels Statewide Student Assessments
iLearn Schools is proud to offer students a high-quality curriculum framework that embodies the rigor required by the state standards and goals for which teachers and students are held accountable. In order to measure the effectiveness of the academic program and to monitor students’ progress towards achieving – and exceeding – grade-level standards, the establishment of a culture of data-driven instruction and assessment is critical to iLearn School’s mission and vision.
Governor Phil Murphy has announced that the State of New Jersey is cancelling all statewide assessments for the 2020 testing window, this includes the springtime administration of the New Jersey Learning Assessments (NJSLA), ACCESS for ELLs, and the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) assessment. This decision will not impact students’ graduation requirements. The NJDOE will continue to process portfolio appeals for seniors who have not yet met their graduation requirements.
Although our students will not be assessed through a state mandated assessment this school year, we are committed to continue providing our students with a high-quality STEAM-based education in a digital learning environment. Our academic programs will continue to be implemented with fidelity through iContinue Learning and our traditional programs. iLearn Schools will continue the established comprehensive cycle of assessment that allows for all stakeholders to accurately measure how iLearn Schools is meeting its mission of academic success.
We thank you for your continued support of our students and schools during this unprecedented period.
