iLearn Schools believes that a STEAM team can achieve more through cross-curricular projects and well-rounded understanding of concepts from multiple angles.
STEAM challenges our students to not only learn the content standards, but to also apply this new knowledge of 21st century skills and discoveries in tackling ever-evolving real world problems and challenges.
The iLearn Schools curricula is developed and aligned in accordance with these principles. Embedded within the curricula are multicultural elements, ensuring that all subject matter is made easily accessible and equally relatable for ALL students. Additionally, focus on inquiry approaches and project-based learning encourages students to develop problem-solving skills that will allow them to make positive changes throughout their communities. Design Challenge Classrooms encourage students to be the innovators of change through productive struggle. Rather than passively receiving information, students actively seek knowledge and express learning in unique ways. In fact, multiple pathways to discovery are embraced, as students see the opportunity to be creative in their thinking and problem-solving. Throughout each school year, students complete four Design Challenge projects in collaborative groups. Across all grade levels, students meet with engineers, artists, hobbyists, and professionals from STEAM fields to further expand upon their learning and awareness, collaborate, and have fun as they explore innovations. Students are furthermore given the opportunity to participate in full‐length theatrical productions, concerts, cultural dances, and festivals to celebrate diversity and increase opportunities for service learning.
