iLearn Schools Continues to Closely Monitor the CoronaVirus Situation

iLearn Schools continues to closely monitor the CoronaVirus (now named COVID-19) situation.

As of March 5th, County health officials now report that there is 1 confirmed case of CoronaVirus in New Jersey and New York has 13 confirmed cases.

You may be aware that the virus has spread to other countries and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) has issued new travel warnings with increased concern for South Korea, Japan, and Italy. Additional details about these warnings can be found on the CDC website.

The CDC has begun spreading in the United States, including: Washington State, Rhode Island, Florida, New York, and now New Jersey. iLearn Schools is providing all of the necessary hygienic cleaning aids, including: hand sanitizer stations, disinfectant wipes, and tissues in every classroom. We are also working with county school and health officials to establish protocols for schools. More information will be shared as this plan develops. In the meantime, current information about the CoronaVirus is available on the CDC website. Additionally, information regarding healthy hygienic habits can be found on the New Jersey Department of Health website.

As a reminder, if your child is sick, please keep them home from school. To help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including the CoronaVirus and flu, always keep these important tips in mind for healthy and hygienic living:

• Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Stay home when you are sick.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. If a tissue is unavailable, raise your arm and direct your cough or sneeze into the inside of your elbow and shirt sleeve.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
• Individuals with chronic health issues and/or individuals experiencing severe symptoms should be evaluated by a medical professional.

Additionally, the New Jersey State Department of Public Health does not recommend the use of face masks for general prevention, and says that handwashing provides better protection from infectious diseases.

iLearn Schools will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary. We thank you for your cooperation and support. We also look forward to continuing to lead healthy and hygienic lives for the future.

Sincerely,
